Events

Live painting adds a unique element of entertainment to your event. You & your guests will enjoy watching the process of your own impressionist painting coming to life. The end result will be a one-of-a-kind keepsake to enjoy for years to come!

HOW IT WORKS:

  1. Fill out an Inquiry Form, (or contact me directly), to tell me more about your event. I’ll get back to you within a few days to let you know if I’m available & to answer any questions you might have. (See below for size & pricing options.)

  2. If you’d like to proceed, you’ll give a non-refundable $600 deposit to secure the date, (I accept Venmo, Zelle, or credit card payments).

  3. The remaining balance must be paid in full 10 days prior to your date. Feel free to email or text me anytime during the process if you have any questions or details to share about the event.

  4. The day of your event, I need to start setting up a minimum of 2 hours, (preferably more), prior to the start time. The sooner I can arrive & start sketching, the more progress I’ll be able to make during the event. I will bring my easel & all of my painting supplies, take up about 5 x 5’ of floor space, and I usually stand throughout the event. All I’ll need from you/the venue is a contact person, (bride/groom, planner, etc), who can meet with me quickly & approve my exact location the day of. I may unload & set up my supplies in casual clothes, then change into attire in keeping with your event & be sketching and ready to greet your guests as they begin to arrive. I like to be included in the “first look” and/or couple photos, as this is often the best time for me to quickly get some good reference shots. (I am very considerate not to get in your photographers way & to ask their permission.)

  5. I will accomplish as much as possible on site, (within a 6-8 hr time frame), and then will take the painting home to finish details. This adds a fun element of anticipation, and your painting will be ready in 2-4 weeks.

  6. I’ll send photos of your finished painting for approval! I’m happy to coordinate framing for an additional charge at this time if you choose, or we can make pick-up/shipping arrangements for the unframed panel. (If you’d like to have your painting framed in the future, Briarcliff Frame Shop is my go-to recommendation for framing in Atlanta.)

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM YOUR PAINTING:

I consider my style to be impressionistic, meaning that I capture my impression of the moment. I trust that your photographers will document the exact details of the day for you, so that is not my goal. My focus is on capturing the feeling of being there, the lighting, the movement, the emotions. I will make every attempt to capture the likeness of a few key people, (ie bride & groom, anniversary couple, etc), but please keep in mind that this will be an artist’s rendition, not a photorealistic likeness. Above all, I want to create a beautiful painting that you will love for years to come and that will bring you back to that special day. I like to get to know my clients a bit as that helps inspire me to create something that will speak to you.

There are many subject matter options for an event painting. For weddings, some common moments to capture are the first kiss or first dance. I also love capturing quieter, more intimate moments like the bride and groom sitting on a bench or chatting in a gazebo. The “first look” can be a wonderful opportunity to get some good shots before the ceremony. We can focus in on a close up portrait of the couple, or they can be part of the overall scene. We can loosely include guests if you like, though I tend to encourage keeping the focus on our “main players” as much as possible. If you aren’t sure you like the idea of a wedding portrait, but do love the thought of having a special painting from the day, we could do a landscape of the setting, or even set up a still life with elements from the day like the bouquet. For other events, we could do an architectural portrait or landscape of the venue, a floral for a garden themed event, a child’s portrait for a birthday, or even an animal portrait if that suits the theme. The possibilities are endless, and I’m always open to hearing your ideas! I love working closely with each client to create something personalized for them.
